Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
Psalms 33:11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
The thoughts of the heart of God today are the same thoughts of heart that He had on the dawn of creation. They are the same thoughts He will have throughout the eternal years to come. He is the same, He changes not. Yesterday, today, and forever He maintains the same thoughts in His heart.
Mankind need not worry about the Lord God of the universe changing His mind about anything. God’s thoughts on grace, mercy, creation, the gospel, redemption, salvation, the church, righteousness, or anything else are the same day in and day out for ever. Times may change but God never does. Styles may change but God never does. Technology may change, social structures may change, the economy may change, religion (so called) may change, churches may change, people may change, nations may change, political alignment may change, but God will never change. The thoughts of His heart are to all generations. Including this one!
Because of the frailty of the human condition, because of the sin nature, because of the shifting sands of societal evolution, because of acquired learning, because of lessons of experience, and because of the ability to grow in our intellectual understanding, the thoughts of the hearts of man can and will change. But God is not prey to the human condition, neither does He have a sin nature, nor does His society change, for it is fixed on His laws of immutability, He does not acquire learning for He is the source of all knowledge. He gains no lessons from experience, for he is the orchestrator of all experiences that teach lessons. His intellectual understanding cannot increase, for He is all knowledgeable, so He never changes. He is altogether perfect with no room for improvement.
This is the God of stability, the God of reliability, and the God of dependability, for He never changes His mind. …the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
