Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
Psalms 94:11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
I was once with two men that got into an argument about nothing. It had to do with my boat, and I knew the truth. They were both wrong. Nonetheless, I kind of enjoyed the bickering of these two. One would state his thoughts of why he was right, the other would state his thoughts of why he was right. One would use arguments based on common sense, one would use arguments based on scientific laws. One tried to intimidate the other, one tried to belittle the other. They would thrust and parry about with words like two old longhorn bulls do with their horns.
Finally, one looked at me and said, “Which one of us is right?” I knew they were both wrong so I decided to be like Switzerland, “I’m not taking sides, you two have to figure this out yourself.” There was no way I was going to allow these two to team up on me. Not in my own boat. Well, they never did settle it. I knew that their thoughts on the matter, which both were equally adept at communicating, were vanity.
Likewise, the Lord God in Heaven knows that man’s thoughts are, at best, vanity. Solomon made this very clear in the book of Ecclesiastes.
May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today
