Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
Proverbs 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
The word wicked is used exactly 100 times more in the Bible than the word righteous (325 to 225). God has much to say about the wicked. Here He states clearly that: The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD... In this fifteenth chapter of Proverbs, the word abomination is used three times in relation to the wicked.
Verse 8 states: The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD... Verse 9 records, The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD... Then, today’s verse says, The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD. These three areas: their sacrifice (not the sacrifice that God accepts which is the sacrifice of His only begotten Son), their way of life, and their thoughts cover the full spectrum of the human condition. No wonder the Psalmist said … God is angry with the wicked every day. (Psalm 7:11)
The best advice any Bible believer could extend to the wicked is to cease their wickedness. For each of these areas God has provided a solution. As far as the sacrifice of the wicked, may they come to the place of the proper sacrifice to God, which is the Lamb of God, His Son, Jesus the Messiah. Regarding their way, it can be changed, for the entire balance of the New Testament epistles were given to us to teach the way of living that is pleasing to our loving Father in Heaven. In relation to the thoughts of the wicked, may they bring their thoughts under subjection and as Philippians 2:5 states Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
Life is difficult enough without having an Almighty God angry at a person every day because of their wrong (before God wrong) sacrifice, way, and thoughts. These are an abomination to Him. And concerning the afterlife, just suffice it to say, “Eternity is too long to be wrong” and the wicked are wrong on all that truly counts: their sacrifice, their way, and their thoughts.
May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
