Minding Your Thoughts

A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life

Psalm 119:59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

One of the grandest characteristics of man is to think. Of all a person has to think about, the one area that perhaps we give the least thought to is our own ways. Every person reading this has a way about them:  a way of life, a way of thinking, a way of worship, a way of seeing things, a way of reacting to the eventualities of life. The way of an individual develops over years. Experiences, education, family culture, upbringing, successes and failures have molded a way of life that is comfortable, familiar, easy and just seems to fit that person.

Modifying behavior is a difficult thing. It takes a strong will, patience, and the willingness to accept failure and start all over again. Most never seriously attempt to change for the better. However, this is exactly what our God in Heaven desires, He desires to mold us into His image (Romans 8:29). People can change their ways! This is a truth of God’s Word; in fact, much of the Word of God is devoted to instructing us how to live so that we have a long and safe life in this world and maximum reward in the next. The first step on the path of change is to do what this Psalmist did, I thought on my ways.

Let it be said again, people can change! And it all starts with them honestly thinking on their ways.

May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
