Daily Reading: Ezekiel 28-30
It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.
The Lord’s attention is turned to Egypt. Within chapters 29-32 six prophecies are given against Pharaoh and his nation. This took place in 572 & 568 B.C. in which the first statement of today’s verse has continued to be true It shall be the basest of the kingdoms…
Egypt continued even in New Testament times, but it never recaptured its former power and world dominance as it did under the Pharaohs.
It’s interesting to note 12 times in these three chapters the same refrain is repeated: …they shall know that I am the Lord. This phrase is used a total of 67 times in Ezekiel. This is how it works. God gave Ezekiel a prophecy, many times this is a prediction of doom. Ezekiel faithfully gives God’s Word to Israel, Judah, and Jerusalem. The thing the Lord said would happen, happens. Sometimes it happened so rapidly that the generation which first received the prophecy actually lived to see it take place. Upon seeing the prophecy fulfilled the Lord hoped that notice would be taken, and He would be known as the Lord God Almighty among the people.
Sadly, most then and now, fail to learn from all of these prophecies. Whether from lack of study, lack of teachers teaching about them, or lack of care, one thing is sure, most individuals do not know that He is the Lord. Yet, on the day of judgment they will have no excuse. After all, the Lord gave them proof after proof after proof after proof.
Of these Peter spoke elegantly when he said Of this they are willingly ignorant…
But not you! You have positioned yourself through the Read-to-Read program to learn; that is why you are reading this right now. With all your learning, be sure to learn this: For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. Isaiah 45:18. In the New Testament Paul echoed this same thought: God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Acts 17:24
All this He did, to prove to an unseeing world that He alone is the Lord God.
Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
