Rēad to Read …Again
Daily Reading: Micah 1-7
Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
That’s it.
Do justly
Love mercy
Walk humbly
That is all the Lord requires.
But when we don’t? Remember some other words of Micah. Namely:
Micah 7:18
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Micah 7:19
He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
How? How will God pardon iniquity? How will He cast all sins into the depths of the sea? Through Him that Micah spoke about, saying: But thou, Beth–lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2
Yes, Micah prophesied about Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Lamb of God. Through Him that was born in Bethlehem; through Him who is to be ruler in Israel (millennial reign of Christ headquartered in Jerusalem); through Him whose goings forth have been from old, from everlasting; through Him, God will have compassion on us, subdue our iniquities, and cast our sins in the deepest part of the sea. Because He delights in mercy. Concerning His mercy Paul wrote to the Ephesians (2:4), But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us. Praise the Lord that He is rich in mercy! This causes us to think upon those words that Micah wrote, Who is a God like unto thee…. None. There is no other God like the God of the Bible, the God of creation, the God of Israel, the God of the Gentiles, the God of eternity, future and past, the God of salvation. Which other God shows mercy?
So, do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him for that is all He requires. If by chance we fail? Remember, He can and will forgive through Him, Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem and crucified on Calvary.
