Daily Reading: Amos 1-5

Amos 3:3

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

The answer is no. Two people cannot walk together unless they agree on where to walk, how fast or slow to walk, when to walk, and so on and so forth. This is a practical truth on earth and also a practical truth with spiritual implications. It is impossible for individuals to walk with God unless they first and foremost agree with Him.

Amos is telling the people of Israel that they will be captured by Assyria, which happened in 722 B.C. Meaning that the events that Amos foretell took place about 60-100 years after the great revival in Nineveh through the preaching of Jonah (Nineveh was the capital city of Assyria at the time).

Amos, in attempts to warn and bring revival to Israel, warned about their certain overthrow. The nation did not listen, they chose to not walk with God.

Before judging this nation too harshly consider oneself.

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
