Daily Reading: Daniel 10-12
Daniel 10:5-6
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
It’s called a theophany or Christophany, which is a preincarnate appearance of Jesus Christ the Lord in the Old Testament. This is not the first time the Lord appeared on earth before His birth, but it is notable in the description given. Notice, He was,
Clothed in linen
Wore a girdle of fine gold
Body was a color like beryl
Face had the appearance of lightning
Eyes were as lamps of fire
Arms and feet the color of polished brass
Voice like the voice of a multitude
Why could this be Christ? Because of the description and other teachings of the Lord as given by John in Revelation 1:13-15. There, the Lord was,
Dressed in a garment down to the foot
Wore a golden girdle
Hairs and head were like fine wool (white like lightning)
Eyes were as a flame of fire
Feet were like fine brass (meaning polished)
With a voice of many waters (a multitude)
These two descriptions given about 650 years apart are uniquely similar. We know that the personage that John saw was the Lord Jesus Christ for He said, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation 1:8) He also said even more specifically, I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (Revelation 1:18)
Yes, Jesus has always existed even as testified by this same John in the very first few verses of his Gospel account, John 1:1-3; 14. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Don’t you just know that the humanist and religionist just hate the truth that Jesus is ever existent. For this one truth disproves so many false teachings. Yet it is so simple to believe, if it is received by faith.
