Rēad to Read …Again
Daily Reading: Ezekiel 40-42
Ezekiel 41:22
The altar of wood was three cubits high, and the length thereof two cubits; and the corners thereof, and the length thereof, and the walls thereof, were of wood: and he said unto me, This is the table that is before the LORD.
From Ezekiel 40 to the end of the book the vision of the temple is given. This is a very precise and complicated portion of God’s Word. In the Bible there are six physical temples mentioned.
1. Solomon’s temple.
2. The temple built by Ezra after the return.
3. Herod’s temple; this was the one in use during the life of Christ.
4. The future rebuilt temple which the anti-christ will desecrate.
5. The millennial temple.
Which temple was measured in these chapters? This is unknown. But one thing is known, the measurements of this temple are important. If not, God would not have included such a detail. This is very much like it is with many prophecies and the Christian life in general. They are complex and sometimes un-understandable. But God understands them. That is what is important. Everything He does has a purpose, a plan, and a detailed minute design.
One day we will know which temple this is and why its dimensions are so important. Then perhaps I can finish this devotion with some certainty that I know of which I communicate. Until then, all I can do is enjoy its mystique.
