Rēad to Read …Again
Daily Reading: Ezekiel 34-36
Ezekiel 36:36
Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
What will He do? The Lord will restore Israel. This is a prophecy that was fulfilled and one day will be fulfilled to the fullest (during the millennial reign of Christ).
He promised to save them, vs. 29. He did, and will.
He promised to make them productive, vs. 30. He did, and He will.
He promised to cause them to remember their sins, vs. 31-32. He did and He will.
He promised that they would be rebuilt as a nation, vs. 33-36. He did, and He will.
He promised that they would know that He is the Lord, vs. 37-38. He did and He will.
Yes, He is the Lord; He speaks it, and He does it. Whatever it is. When He speaks, He always does that which He says He will do. In our society we are so accustomed to individuals making promises and not fulfilling them that it sort of becomes normal. We become conditioned to overlook accountability for one’s promises. But God is accountable, if only to Himself. Everyone in your life may make promises and never fulfill them, and because of this it will be a tendency to think the Lord will not do as He says.
But everyone, actually no one, in your life is the Lord. He is the Lord God. He cannot lie. He will not lie. He has spoken it, and He will do it. Whatever “it” is.
Just think of some of the promises the Lord made in one simple book, the book of John.
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.
John 6:37 … and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in
and out, and find pasture.
John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you
unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In
the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast
believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Just one more: Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come
quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Of all these it can faithfully be said of Jesus, …I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
