Minding Your Thoughts

A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life

I Chronicles 16:15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

Today’s verse is taken from a Psalm of thanksgiving written and sung by King David. Oh that kings today would be ever mindful of God’s covenant. What a different world it would be! Probably if a poll could be taken of the readers of these devotions, they would overwhelmingly agree that leaders, such as kings, ought to always be mindful of God’s covenant. The word covenant is used 272 times in our Bible, evidently God has much to say about His pledge to man.

But let’s bring it home, let’s make it personal. How about you? Are you ever mindful of His covenant? David defines this covenant as being …the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;   Therefore, His covenant can be found in His Word. His Word is found in the Bible. Are you mindful always of this covenant?

In your decisions are you mindful always of His covenant? Concerning how you spend your money, are you mindful always of His covenant? Are you mindful always of His covenant:  in your treatment of others; in your church participation; in your marriage; in your parenting; in your recreation; and at your workplace? How about regarding your fleshly desires… The way you care for your body (the New Testament Temple)… Your relationship with your pastor… and your responsibility toward the government. This list could go on and on. To be mindful always of His covenant is to allow that covenant to permeate every aspect of one’s life.

To be mindful always of His covenant means that comfort, security, peace and reassurance can be found in every difficulty of life for He can never, ever, not one time, fail to care for us because He promises to do so in His covenant. After all, …he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5) And this is only one small slice of His covenant to His children today. Be ye mindful always of his covenant;  King David was, and you can be as well.

May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
