The Bible Edge
Practical Points to Ponder from Proverbs
Proverbs 19:27
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
Just don’t listen. That is the answer. Just don’t listen. Oh, you may hear the words but don’t listen to them, entertain them, consider them, and definitely don’t act on them. Other than the act of rejecting them. That is your prerogative, that is your right, that is your liberty, that is your decision. Just don’t listen.
“What are you talking about, Preacher?” The instructions that will cause you to err from the words of knowledge. They are everywhere. Friends, family, and foes alike sometimes try to instruct in ways that will actually draw away from that which you know. Stick with what you know, what you know is right. Just don’t listen.
Take inventory. Try to recall things that now, in the light of Scripture, you wish you did not do. Things that are too embarrassing to even admit doing. When you did those, was there someone, or a crowd, instructing you? It’s called peer pressure, which can either be good or bad. If it’s good, go with it. If it’s bad, don’t even listen to it. The longer one listens, the greater the chance they will yield. Don’t even listen. Stand fast in the words of knowledge it will give you an edge, a Bible Edge for life and the living of it.
