Daily Reading: Mark 12-13
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
Many take it to hand today to explain all of the prophecies of the end time. Lord bless them for they are much more intelligent than this preacher. They can make their theories fit by adding a verse here, adjusting a word there, by secret revelation that none other can search out or study, and by pure human rationale, they can answer all that even Daniel, Isaiah, David, and John could not. I hope that they are all right, but with so many differences in what is taught by the experts, not all can be right.
While there is much about end time events that can be understood, not all can be comprehended. Not by half. But praise the Lord, we are not commanded to fathom it all, but we are commanded to do that which every person can do. We are to watch.
Yes, just watch. Over and over in the New Testament believers are told to simply watch. Watch the headlines with one eye and the Word of God with the other. With news at our fingertips, watch. With individuals and their behavior, watch. With businesses and corporations ensnaring both customers and employees, watch. With the wind of the day blowing in strange thoughts, philosophies, and teachings; watch. That is that which Jesus told us to do, watch.
All that He said would happen will happen, by watching we may see it all take place right in front of our eyes, then we can say definitively, “This is what the prophecies meant, now I understand.” For all the prognosticators of prophecy fulfillment according to their theory; for their sakes hope they are spot on perfect in their analysis, not having added to or taken anything away from the Holy Scriptures. For all the others, just watch. It will all unfold before us sooner or later. If not us, the next generation, or the next, or next.
Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
