Daily Reading: Romans 4-7

Romans 5:1

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Someone once said, “No war is over until the conquered enemy admits, and acts like it is.” In the war over the soul, this is true. Any and all souls that come to Christ for salvation are admitting that the war is over. No more will the battle of wills rage, no more will that soul attempt to earn that which God gives freely. No more will there be enmity, struggle, or conflict. For all who come to God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ have died to self, ended their standoff, and quit their own pernicious ways. They found Him only to find that He was seeking them.

How? By being justified by faith. Faith alone unleashes the soul saving power of grace which once received brings peace with God through Christ. This is the message of the entire book of Romans found in one verse.

But not only eternal salvation, there is more available to those who come to Him in faith. Notice the colon at the end of today’s verse, the subject continues in the next verse which states: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Through faith the child of God has access into every day, ever present, and ever new grace. Standing in such grace brings joy in the hope of God’s glory. God’s glory is His perfection, righteousness, and power combined.

No true, blood-bought, born again, child of God dares trust in their own glory. Why would they? They have acquired access into His glory. This is why twice, the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth: He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. How can those whom Paul claims to be sinners also have glory? For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23). Just like a fountain of water cannot simultaneously bring forth both fresh and bitter water, neither can a sinful soul bring forth the type of glory that only comes through sinlessness. Only God is without sin for neither the Father, Son nor Holy Ghost has, nor can, sin. They are perfect. Through faith in the Gospel, the sinful person can be justified, made as perfect as they. Their glory (or perfectness) being imputed unto them according to the free gift that Paul speaks of three times in Romans chapter five.

The amazing thing of all this is God’s Grace. It is simply Amazing!

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
