The Bible Edge
Thank You Lord
Psalm 127:3
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
No theologian will like that which is about to be written, probably most preachers will take exception with the statement, and many Pharisees will think it silly. But it’s true, at least to me it’s true. What’s true? “I’ve learned more about the Heavenly Father from having children than any Bible lesson, message, or singular verse.” For me this is true.
I’ve learned how to love those who are sometimes unlovable.
I’ve learned grace.
I’ve learned the wonder of extending mercy.
I’ve learned that parenthood is difficult but its reward is partly to learn about the love of the Father above.
I’ve learned how to be a father to those who no longer think they need a father.
I’ve learned the joy of seeing a child’s obedience purely because they love their father.
I’ve learned to deal with issues on the level of the child instead of the level of an adult. For things that are nothing to me, are big deals to them.
I’ve learned that once born they will never be unborn.
I’ve learned to hurt over the hardships of my children.
I’ve learned to never give up, give over, or give in on being in the role of a parent.
I’ve learned how much a loving father would do anything for their children.
I’ve learned that the promise of unconditional love of the Heavenly Father is sometimes the only reason He loves me at all.
For all these reasons, and probably a hundred more that cannot be recalled at the moment, “Thank you Heavenly Father for your plan of the child/parent relationship, for because of it, I’ve learned of you.”
