The Year of our Lord, Jesus Christ
John 10:7
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
Not only is Jesus the only one who can lawfully, rightly, and lovingly enter through the door, He is the door. A door serves two main purposes. It allows entrance and it bars people from entering. An open door allows any and all who have a desire to enter to do so. In the book of Revelation, Jesus Christ told John: And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; (Revelation 3:7) Later, to the same church He said …I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it... (Revelation 3:8) He opens it and only He can close it.
Today the door is open. The door to Heaven. It is Jesus. Through Him a person enters into eternal life. Only through Him. He said so in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. To go to the Father a person must go through the door, the Lord Jesus Christ. Probably every person reading this knows that there is no need to further prove that Jesus is the door, for He said so.
His sheep know this, for His sheep have entered in through that door. They know His voice and they follow Him. Many may hear of the door, according to John 12:32 all are drawn to the door, but it is a personal choice to enter through the door. It’s a matter of faith.
