Daily Reading: II Chronicles 32-34

II Chronicles 34:15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

Of all the places for the Word of God to be misplaced, it was lost in the House of God. Imagine, the Word of God, lost in the House of God. It can happen. It's up to every generation to make sure that it doesn't. How can the Word of God be lost in the House of God?

Lack of leadership. It's that simple. Religious leaders can become religious followers. Followers of the flock rather than followers of the Lord and His Word. Years ago I heard a poem that says:

From the Law to Revelation, yes preach on!

Christ for every situation, oh, preach on!

Even if your members doubt it,

and say they can live without it,

If you've talked to God about it, Then preach on!

This is only one phrase of this famous poem entitled "Preach On". It reminds every preacher to Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. II Timothy 4:2. Yes, by preaching the Word of God in the House of God, it will not be lost.

Preach the Word, teach the Word, sing of the Word, memorize the Word, read the Word, and live the Word. Make it the centerpiece of your education, vocation, recreation, meditation, and socialization. The Word of God must not be lost.

By the way, the Word of God may be in the House of God in written form, but not practiced in the House of God. This is the way it was in Manasseh's day. The Word of God was in the House of God but was lost because it was not lived. Somewhere along the way, the Word of God was deemed unimportant, so it was set aside. After all, what good is the Word of God if it is not lived. It's been quoted by many, so let's add it here; the only part of the Bible you believe is the part that you obey. Some treat the Bible like a buffet, they take what they want and leave the rest. While it is true that no one can live up to the perfect principles of the Word of God all the time. It is also true that upon failing in an area of Biblical doctrine and practice, humility and repentance should be the response once confronted with its teachings on the matter, and not simply ignoring it.

Every member of every church should be careful not to lose the Word of God in their lives or in their House of God, the local church.

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today by keeping His Word.
