Daily Reading: Deuteronomy 28-29
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
What is the biggest word in the Bible to you? Love, God, Grace, Jesus, Mercy, these are all big words with enormous impact on every one of us. But to me, the biggest word in the Bible, is "if". If makes a difference between eternal life and eternal death, between being blessed and being cursed. In no chapter of the Word of God is the temporal impact of the word "if" contrasted better than in Deuteronomy 28.
While reading this chapter, think of the "ifs" of the New Testament.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
1 Corinthians 8:3
But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
We could go on and on after all, there are only 549 usages of the word "if" in the New Testament.
