Daily Reading: Deuteronomy 9-10

Deuteronomy 10:12

And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

God has a way of summing things up so concisely, so succinctly, and so perfectly that one verse explains a thousand others. Today's verse is one such verse. It says it all. Let's break it down.

To whom is He speaking? To His people. To Israel.

In this verse a tremendous question is asked, one that every child of God should consider: what doth the LORD thy God require of thee...

The answer is immediate. Fear the Lord thy God, walk in all His ways, love Him, and serve Him with all your heart and soul.

This is not the only time that God's Word says this. Consider...

Ecclesiastes 12:13

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Micah 6:8

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Mark 12:30

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

From these verses and so many more we learn this one thing...It's all about Him! Or should be.

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
