The Year of our Lord, Jesus Christ
John 21:12
Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Mom’s voice! Who can forget the sound of their mom’s voice? I can hear it now… “Bill, it’s time for dinner!” When I heard that, I ran to the dinner table. “Come and get it!” These are wonderful words to a hungry stomach.
When Jesus called His disciples to Come and dine it was after they had fished all night without catching anything. Earlier in the day, in the morning, the Lord had told them to put their net on the right side of the boat, they did and caught a multitude of fish. They knew then the man on the shore speaking to them was the Lord. He prepared for them a meal of fish and bread cooked over an open fire. It must have been a magnificent thing to see, to taste, and to experience. Man, wish I’d been there!
I wasn’t, but one day I will be. No, I won’t be on the seashore to hear Jesus say Come and dine, but I will be in Heaven and perhaps hear Him say those words for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Come and dine. If you don’t know if you will be there, you can! After all the Bible states clearly …These things have I written unto you that believe on the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life… I John 5:13
We may not know the menu of this supper, but it is sure to be good. Probably barbecue, I hope. Whatever the food, it will be a wonderful time of food and fellowship.
Yeah, mom would call us to dinner, that was a sweet voice with a welcomed message. How much more will it be when Jesus calls us to His great supper. Can’t wait! How about you?
Until Next Time,
