Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
Luke 12:25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
Limitations. In our verse today, the Lord is bringing the people to whom He was speaking to the place of realizing their limitations. While it is true that our minds are capable of tremendous things, while it is true that we utilize a relatively small percentage of our mind’s potential, it is also true that our minds are limited. Try as we might, we cannot think ourselves taller.
The limits of thought certainly differ between people, but it still remains; everyone has mental limitations. Knowing these limitations helps reduce stress and worry. But having limitations is not an excuse to fail in doing what we know we can, and should, do. Have you heard the saying, “Pray as if it is all up to God, and work as if it is all up to you?” This saying shows our extremes, our limitations and our abilities.
Grow to understand your limitations but earnestly perform that which you can do. This is part of finding balance in life. There are things that God does, and things that we do, peace of mind is enriched by knowing, and embracing the difference.
May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
