Daily Reading: Psalm 32-35
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
In II Timothy 4:5 the apostle Paul gives Timothy this piece of advice: But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Among other things the mentor tells his student to endure afflictions. Great advice, but how? How can one endure afflictions? Today’s verse gives any who suffer afflictions, and all who must endure afflictions the solution. Enduring affliction first and foremost must be started, maintained, and completed in the mind. Long before Paul told Timothy to endure these things called afflictions, King David gave a thought that will help anyone. Basically, David’s thought is this.
Many afflictions, many deliverances. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. How many afflictions do the righteous suffer? Many. Who delivers them from their afflictions? The Lord. How many afflictions does the Lord deliver the righteous from? All.
You see, where there are many afflictions, even for the righteous, there are many deliverances, all from the Lord. So, keep this thought in your mind…Many afflictions bring about many deliverances. When the doubts, fears, difficulties, trouble, strife, hurts, and misunderstandings invade your life during times of tribulation keep in mind: Many afflictions, many deliverances. Look for them because they are on their way! God’s Word guarantees it!
Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
