Daily Reading: Psalm 119
Psalm 119:1
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Psalm 119! Where can one begin? Let’s start here. In this chapter there are seven descriptive words utilized to describe this thing we call the Bible. Law, Testimonies, Precepts, Statutes, Commandments, Judgments, and Word. Collectively these are used 174 times in the 176 verses in this chapter. Only five verses do not contain one of these. And the word “word”, as in His Word or The Word, is used almost twice as much as any of the six others.
Therefore, by reading this chapter we are reminded of the importance of the Bible. Actually, one doesn’t have to go very far to understand the extreme importance of God’s Word. For verse 9 states: Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. This Scripture teaches us that cleansing one’s way is tied to taking heed to God’s Word. Taking heed means more than reading, it indicates obeying.
Yes, this chapter holds many precious thoughts, pick your favorite and share it with me. Mine is verse 97! O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
