The Bible Edge
Everyone needs an Edge, Believers can have a Bible Edge
Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
There is a war raging; not a war of tanks, planes, soldiers, or military strategies. It is an unseen war. A war of good vs. evil, light vs. darkness, truth vs. error, God vs. His greatest enemy, the evil one. Most don’t even know this war is raging, but it is.
It began in the Garden of Eden when that old serpent questioned God’s Word. Yea, hath God said… (Genesis 3:1) That is what he asked Eve and from that time until today that is the battle ground. “Is God’s Word true or not?” “Did God really say that?” “It’s really all open to interpretation.” On and on the attacks on God’s Word continue. It is a war, a battle, a struggle. Like a good wrestling match, both seem to score points, but at the end there will only be one winner, and that winner will be the Lord God of the universe.
Not only is this battle against God’s Word. There rages a battle against the churches of God. Local churches fight the good fight of faith. With the Word of God, coupled with the obedience of the same, churches wrestle many adversaries in this unseen battle.
We could go on and on, but as Paul said to the church at Corinth …there are many adversaries. (I Corinthians 16:9) Yes indeed, the battle rages.
This month the theme of these devotional thoughts has been “Random Thoughts of a Spiritual Nature.” There could be no better verse to end this series than the one the Lord gave to Paul to give to that church in Ephesus which by extension has been given to us. For within the spiritual world the war continues. Be a good soldier. Just as Paul wrote to Timothy: (2 Timothy 2:3) Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
