Daily Reading: Ecclesiastes 5-8

Ecclesiastes 5:8

If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Within the pages of Scripture there are four things that the human race is told not to marvel at. That ye must be born again, that the hour is coming wherein all in the graves will hear His voice, if the world hates you, and when the oppression of the poor and the violent perverting of judgment and justice is seen. These are four significant items. The new birth, the resurrection, the rejection of God’s people, and the upheaval of evil. These are life changing issues.

The one that Solomon highlights is found in today’s verse. God’s people are not to marvel over the unfortunate events he highlights. He relates that there is a God in Heaven that involves Himself in matters of oppression, judgment and justice. Notice the next to last part of the verse; for he that is higher than the highest regardeth. Those that oppress the poor, violently pervert judgment and justice, no matter where they are in the world are under the watchful eyes of Almighty God in Heaven. They may not think it so…but it is so. There is One that is higher than them. All too soon they will learn this, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
