Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Adam and Eve thought to eat of the forbidden fruit and not face the consequences of their misbehavior. Those at the tower of Babel thought to build a tower that would take them up to heaven. Pharaoh thought he could keep God’s people in bondage. Achan thought he could steal the Babylonian garment, the shekels of silver, and the wedge of gold and get away with it. David thought he could cover up his sin with Bathsheba. Athaliah thought she could destroy the entire seed royal. Belshazzar thought he could get by with praising the gods of silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone. Herod thought he could take the honor that rightly belonged to God. Ananias and Sapphira thought they could lie to the Holy Ghost. Simon thought he could purchase the power of God with money. Peter thought he could go back to fishing. Saul thought he could eradicate believers in Christ and destroy the gospel. And this wicked, end of the world, leader thinks that he will be able to change the times and the laws ultimately defeating Almighty God. But as all these others failed to do what they thought, this awful tyrant will also fail.
There are many things that people think. But thinking it does not make it so. I can think that I can still work like I did when I was twenty, but I can’t. Mankind can take it to heart to do whatever they think, however, if what they think is not within the boundaries of God’s plans their thoughts will come to naught. Remember those certain Jews that banded together saying that they would not eat or drink until they had killed Paul? They must have died from hunger and thirst because they could not kill Paul at that time, for that was not God’s plan. They could think it, but could not accomplish it because the Lord did not approve it.
May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
