Minding Your Thoughts

A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life

Ezekiel 11:5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

God in heaven not only knows the things that come out of the mouth, He knows the things that come into the mind. Today we hear much about electronic surveillance of a person’s activity on the internet. Articles have been written telling us that some internet companies monitor the habits of subscribers. From analyzing the web sites visited, content of emails, and purchases made, they formulate trends that they sell to marketing companies. It has been stated that the technology is being developed to track shoppers with their personal tendencies. Through facial recognition technology a store employee will be able to know who the shopper is and their personal buying habits so that they may serve them effectively. This seems far reaching, but it is a reality, and one day may be widespread.

To tell what is in someone’s mind is a marketing company’s dream, but with God this is a reality. He knows every thought that enters a mind. He knows what we dwell on, what we daydream about, what we meditate on, and what we actively plan in our minds. He knows it all. God told Ezekiel to relay this truth to the house of Israel. The leaders of Israel thought they were outsmarting God, doing things in secret, doing things of which the normal citizens of Israel had no idea (see verses 1-4 of this portion of Ezekiel’s prophecy). But God knew. This truth brings to mind a New Testament verse; Luke 8:17, For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Just remember, God knows it all, even the thoughts that enter into the mind. Be careful therefore to guard your thoughts, today and every day, for God is there.

May the Lord Bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
