The Bible Edge
Everyone needs an Edge, Believers can have the Bible Edge
Psalm 75:6
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
From where then does promotion come? The very next verse tells us, But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. In a world that pushes the idea that God started everything then left us on our own, this idea that God promotes one and puts down another is a foreign concept. Some may even say that on the surface this seems unfair. But hold judgment about that for just a moment. In these two verses there is a golden nugget of truth that explains the just and fair actions of God. He is the judge!
He is watching over all. He sees all that individuals do. He knows the behind the scenes work of every individual. From His vantage point He has the divine right to promote and to put down.
Look at it like this. As recorded in Acts 10:34, Peter stated this: …God is no respecter of persons. In context he is speaking to Cornelius about the ability for Gentiles to be accepted by God, through Christ, just like the Hebrews. This is confirmed in Romans 10:12. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Since God is no respecter of persons, no one begins life with some unseen, inherited, right of promotion. Their actions in life will be judged by the Lord God, and those with actions in line with His will, as found in His word, will be promoted.
Understand, this promotion that God grants is not necessarily a title, or a job, or a position; it is something much greater than that. It is God putting a person in the place of leadership, power, and so much more. A ditch digger can be promoted by God yet still dig ditches. They may become spiritual leaders of others, influencers in a family, examples to others about how to live by faith, or many countless other things.
If promotion is desired, please God. That is the Bible Edge on the matter of promotion. Yes, you may be an entry level worker today, but through building your career on God’s principles He will promote you. Who knows, one day you may be the CEO or owner or dean, or pastor. All because true promotion does not come from the earth (east or west) but rather from the Lord God of Heaven.
