Daily Reading: Numbers 14-15

Numbers 14:34

After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

Why did Israel wander in the wilderness for forty years? Because for forty days the twelve spies searched out the promise land. Their task was to bring back a report of the land and its inhabitants. They were not to make a judgment about their ability to acquire the land. But that is what they did, they discouraged Israel from wholly following God's command to the point that the people of Israel would rather return to Egypt and live under bondage than to enter into the promise land and live free.

The Lord said that Israel would dwell in the wilderness for forty years, one day for every day the spies searched out the land.

Now you know!

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
