Mark 14:72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
When I was a young boy, my dad taught me to never put in writing something that I would be embarrassed for everyone to read. I didn’t listen. In perhaps the 4th or 5th grade I wrote a note to a girl telling her I liked her and asking if she liked me. I even had two boxes she could check, one was for yes, the other was for no. The teacher intercepted the note and read it before the class. After it was too late, I called to mind what my father had told me. Oh, that I had called it to mind before I wrote the note. But lesson learned.
Peter learned a lesson, but in a much grander way. Too late he called to mind that which Jesus said.
Each one of us would do well to call to mind the warnings of our Saviour and our God before we perform that about which He has warned us. Read a portion of the Word of God every day, it may just be that you will read a verse that will keep you from doing something that will lead to embarrassment and even weeping. I know this, I sure wish I had called to mind that which my father told me before I wrote that note. There are also times I sure wish I had called to mind the things that God’s Word said before doing things in opposition to it. Just like Peter.
