Daily Reading: 2 Corinthians 5-9

2 Corinthians 9:15

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Can I muse for a moment? In my life this verse is real. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. While His gift is unspeakable, let me speak about it for a moment.

One: His salvation. What a plan! Salvation by grace through faith plus nothing minus nothing. When He accepted my plea for salvation, He changed everything about my life. My plans, my purpose, everything was changed that night in October so many years ago when I begged Him for His salvation.

Two: His calling. As I write this, I am thinking of all the years that I have been writing Daily Devotions at Dawn. Yearlong themes such as: Daily Devotions at Dawn 1 and 2, Business by the Book, A Year and a Day of Rejoicing, Minding your Thoughts, 12 Things Every Person Should Know, and this year Read to Read. I think of “The Bible Edge”, an overview of every book of the Bible that is now a Radio Program and Podcast called “The Bible Edge”. I think of the 22+ years that I have pastored the Friendly Lane Baptist Church. I think of the places I’ve preached, the people I’ve helped, the victories and the afflictions. Words cannot express how amazed I am that the Lord would let me live in His world much less allow me to serve others for His name’s sake.

Three: His provision. Twice I have given Him everything I own. Twice He has returned that and more. You would not even believe it if I could tell it.

Four: His Word. Why He gives me insight to its teachings in such a clear manner is beyond my ability to understand.

Five: Friends. None of whom I deserve.

Six: Family. Again, I do not deserve the love and joy they give me.

Seven: Himself. He is my best friend, my only hope, my strength, my joy and so much more.

Your list may differ from mine, but I imagine that like mine, the gift He has given renders you speechless. If we had a million years to explain them all that would not be enough time.

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
