Daily Reading: Revelation 20-22

Revelation 22:20

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

So, you have read His Book. You have passed from “I will read the Bible to I have read the Bible.” Few ever will, you are in a choice group. Congratulations! You have done well.

There is no better end to this year than is found in today’s verse. In it Jesus states clearly: Surely I come quickly. Normally the word “quickly” means fast or soon. But perhaps it means more here for the word quick also means “alive”. For we know that He is alive forevermore. When He returns to earth it will be a lively return.

Nonetheless, all that can be said about His return is that which John said: Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Please come soon, please come quickly, any way and every way, please come and take us home. We wait for your return with loving anticipation, a blessed hope, a bended knee, a song in our heart, our mind on your book and our eyes on the eastern sky.

Until His return, let it be said by every preacher who ever mounts a pulpit to broadcast His Holy Word. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Therefore, for the rest of your life, live for Him every day.
