Random Thoughts of a Spiritual Nature II
Psalm 27:14
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
We live in an impatient world. Just drive for a few miles on any interstate or side road in Texas. We Texans are impatient on the road. Fast foods, immediacy of answers on Google, remote controls that we use to change any program that gets a little boring, fast internet, and instant gratification seem to mold us into an impatient frame of mind. Waiting on the spouse, waiting on a slow server in a restaurant, waiting at a long red light, waiting to save money to buy a home or a new automobile, it seems that the longer we wait the more impatient we become.
But there is one that we must learn to wait on. Wait on the LORD… He has no pressure to bow to our timetable, He has no urgency to react quickly to our issues, He has His own timetable. He is dealing with our issues before we even know they are issues, but His dealing with things takes time. He may have to deal with someone’s heart, or perhaps has to move an obstacle, or needs time for this, that, or another thing. Learning to wait on Him is difficult because most have the nature of not waiting on anything.
Wait on the Lord and you will see His mighty hand at work.

Dear Reader,
If the devotions seem a bit short and less than they usually are please understand that my wife’s 92-year-old father is having a difficult time lately and is facing a major surgery tomorrow. We are in Georgia this week with him in the hospital and with his family. Please forgive the brevity of these devotions. I trust we will be back to full steam in the next week or so.
Thank you for reading.
