Daily Reading: Isaiah 31-35
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
Chapters 31-35 of Isaiah is a joy to read. It tells of God’s promise to deliver Jerusalem in 31:4-9. This occurred in December 1917 with the negotiation and signing of the Balfour Declaration. This released Jerusalem from control of the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917). At that time Israel was placed under British control until their statehood in 1948.
In Chapter 32 the coming King and His kingdom is highlighted. This is of course Jesus Christ, His kingdom today is spiritual; during His millennial reign it will be physical and headquartered in Jerusalem.
In Chapter 33 verse 22 there are three wonderful titles given for the coming Messiah: Judge, Lawgiver, and King.
In Chapter 34 The Day of the Lord is described including references to the Battle of Armageddon.
Lastly, for this section, Chapter 35 relates Israel’s long-awaited restoration.
This portion of Isaiah is an exciting conclusion of its first division. Two more divisions are to come. As my mom used to jokingly say, “It gets gooder and gooder.”
Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
