The Bible Edge

Everyone needs an Edge, Believers can have a Bible Edge

Daily Reading: Ezekiel 5-8

Ezekiel 6:7

And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Sixty-three times and this is the first. Sixty-three that is how many times the phrase Know that I am the Lord is used in the book of Ezekiel. That is more than once per chapter in that there are only 48 chapters in the book. It seems that the Lord God wanted the individuals of Judah to know that He is the Lord.

He created the heavens and the earth; Adam and Eve saw the creation in its pristine condition, but people don’t believe Him. He created a nation of people that were no people through the seed Abraham, yet they failed to believe Him. He led the people out of Egypt with a strong arm and provided for them in miraculous ways, yet they didn’t believe He was all He claimed to be. The Lord brought Israel to the pinnacle of world power, yet they still did not embrace Him, serve Him, love Him, or obey Him. As He promised, He allowed the nation to be torn into pieces, yet this chastisement did not turn the people to Him. What else could He try?

Total destruction coupled with a promise to one day reconstitute Israel seems to be the last great act that maybe, at the end of time, His people would accept Him as Lord. This may seem harsh, but again, what else could the Lord God do to reveal Himself to His people than to have His prophets prophesy something so unheard of, so unbelievable, so remote, that when it happened, they had to stop and take notice. Yet…they haven’t yet. But one day they will. Their eyes will be opened and belief in the Lord for being who He is, will blossom (II Corinthians 3).

Concerning the acknowledgement of the Lord for being exactly who He says He is, one thing is sure: For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11). Yes, one day in eternity to come, every person will see Him and accept Him for who He is. Some accept Him as Lord today in this realm. All others will accept Him then. Accepting Him by sight then is not accepting Him by faith today. Get the benefit of faith and accept the Lord God as Lord of your life today through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It will benefit you in all the days of eternity.

Sixty-three times you will read in this book; Know that I am the Lord.

Until tomorrow, live for Christ today.
