The Bible Edge

Everyone needs an Edge, Believers can have a Bible Edge

Proverbs 21:9 and 25:24

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

Ladies, please remember, I’m only in delivery, I just throw the paper. I didn’t write it. God did.

Frankly, this verse says it all. It presents an opposite: a corner on a housetop against being inside a wide house. Naturally, given the option most, if not all, would choose the wide house. Living on a housetop, are you kidding me? The housetop does not provide that which a house should provide; it provides no protection from the rain, shade from the heat, or shield from the wind, or security from bad guys, or shelter of any kind. It is the housetop. I live in Texas and cannot imagine living on the housetop in June, July, or August. The heat alone would be unbearable.

So, it is evidently similar with a brawling woman. She does not provide that which she should or could provide. This word picture is so important that the Lord includes it twice; word for word. If God’s Word says something once we should pay attention, how much more if He repeats something?

You know, imagination is a wonderful thing. It is a gift from God. He created it in us in part, to be able to make His Word come alive in our minds. While reading today’s verse probably every person can imagine a brawling woman. I shudder at the thought. Wow.

Hey, since I’m already in trouble, maybe tomorrow we will discuss the continuing dripping of water, but then on the other hand, what is it that Shakespeare wrote? “Discretion is the better part of valor.” Perhaps I should use discretion before I begin looking like a swine sporting a nose ring.
