The Year of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The scope of the Great Commission in a sentence. William Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet that “Brevity is the soul of wit.” If this be true, Jesus is the champion of wit, for in just a few brief words He harnessed the entire scope of the Great Commission. In twenty-six words Jesus laid out 2,000 plus years of work for His people to perform. Thousands upon thousands of stories could be told resulting from God’s children carrying out His command, His commission.
The scope of all things whatsoever I have commanded you. The content.
The scope of I am with you alway. The Protection and leadership.
The scope of unto the end of the world. The duration.
In the Spirit of Christ, let’s leave it there. Never could we be as brief as He. For He so succinctly summed up the Great Commission that there is no need for embellishment. Let us not be counted among the number who believe they are paid by the word.
Until next time,
William T. Howe, Ph.D.
